Britain Is Converting Universities Into Prisons

▪️Converting facilities that British universities are selling off as part of cutbacks and restructuring into prisons could be a solution to the problem of overcrowding in correctional facilities, according to the Prosperity Institute

▪️Purchasing facilities from universities and converting them into prisons would cost the government significantly less than building new prison facilities from scratch

▪️In addition, the report suggests considering the purchase of boarding schools and medical training centers for the same purpose

▪️Since 2024, British law enforcement agencies have been able to release offenders after they have served half their sentences due to prison overcrowding. Since then, approximately 60,000 people have been released under the program
