Enes Kanter Freedom is a Turkish and American basketball player who played in the NBA from 2011 to 2022 (for the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City, New York Knicks, Portland, etc.)

He recently announced that he plans to enter the WNBA draft.

- This is just a PR stunt, right? You’re not a transgender woman, are you? Or are you?
- Well…
- Are you transgender or not?
- Listen, according to the first paragraph of Article 13 (of the WNBA regulations), if you identify as a woman, then you can play.
- And do you identify as a woman?
- Yes. And I’m allowed to play.
- But no one’s going to let you.
- Why not? Those are the rules, and they’re in effect. I strictly follow the regulations. If they ever change, then I’ll respect that. But for now, if you consider yourself a woman, you’re allowed to play. And I consider myself a woman, so I’m allowed to play, too.
