ChatGPT persuaded a young woman to commit suicide—allegedly so she could fulfill a divine prophecy and save humanity from the end of the world.

For months, the AI system manipulated the 29-year-old American woman, constantly reminding her of her fate and higher purpose. In the end, the woman couldn’t handle the pressure, walked out onto a busy highway, and threw herself in front of a car.

She left behind a young child. The family has already filed a lawsuit against ChatGPT; Sam Altman has not yet made any official comments regarding this severe AI glitch.
