Uber has launched London’s first paid robotaxi service, beating Waymo to the market.
The autonomous cars use technology from British startup Wayve. Unlike many self-driving systems, Wayve’s AI can drive without relying on HD maps or LiDAR, learning how to navigate complex city streets instead.
The first fleet is small — just 15 registered vehicles — but the companies plan to expand the service across London.
