TECH NEWS | NASA JUST LAUNCHED A ROBOT TO INSPECT DEAD SATELLITES
NASA has launched Otter 24C, a 335-kilogram autonomous spacecraft built by Starfish Space. Starting in 2027, it will approach and inspect up to four inactive satellites in low Earth orbit.
The spacecraft uses computer vision, electric propulsion and autonomous guidance to examine their condition. This could lead to robots that repair, relocate or safely remove dead satellites.
