What is it like to be a duck? Or korall?
🗣 Today, we have the main duck of Telegram, a moderator of the OHUENKO chat, and a Telegram gift holder, korallxd, in our interview. We talked about various things, so let's jump right in. 🗣
🪽 #tonvoice: How are you widely known to people as a moderator in the Ohuenko chat? How did you get into the gift scene and this whole movement in the first place, and how did you become an Ohuenko mod?
🪽 #korallxd: I found out about gifts from Durov's post, and honestly, the very first second I saw it, I knew I had to jump right in. To give you an idea, all my money came from various airdrops and events in mini-apps. So when gifts came out, I literally went all-in with everything I had, about $30 at best, and bought gifts.
🪽 #tonvoice: There was a story where you messaged Durov, and he blocked you in response. It seemed like a well-known story, but turns out many people don't know about it. Could you share more details?
🪽 #korallxd: Honestly, there's nothing super surprising there: when people found out Durov created an account, his DMs turned out to be open for free messages, so I started writing to him about pumping memecoins on TON. As I found out later, quite a lot of people actually got banned just like I did.
🪽 #tonvoice: How would you rate the current state of gifts and Telegram overall?
🪽 #korallxd: To be honest, activity in gifts is pretty low right now, which I personally find really unfortunate. I love this community and generally think that with massive hype, gifts could deliver insane multipliers, but whether that moment will actually come remains to be seen.
🪽 #tonvoice: Very few people know any detailed facts about you, who you are, where you're from, and so on. Could you share more details about yourself?
🪽 #korallxd: Well, I'm from Kharkiv, Ukraine, and I'm 14 years old. The rest is under NDA.
🪽 #tonvoice: Why did you decide to pick the nickname "korallxd"?
🪽 #korallxd: I've had the handle "Korall" since around 2020, and honestly, I was really obsessed with making it super unique. For some reason, I was drawn to the ocean theme, and then in Fortnite, I saw the "Choppy Coral" back bling. I decided to make my nickname Korall, and added "xd" so it wouldn't be too short.
🪽 #tonvoice: We'd like to hear your opinion on the TON NFT segment. Will there ever be demand for traditional NFTs, or will it remain strictly limited to gifts?
🪽 #korallxd: Actually, yes, I think TON has huge potential to develop its NFT segment, ranging from exclusive chats for NFT holders to custom games built for them.
🪽 #tonvoice: Have you ever been scammed for a large sum of money? How did it happen, and overall, what do you think causes such a high amount of scams across Telegram?
🪽 #korallxd: I've never been scammed. The reason is simple: the Telegram gifts community has a lot of teenagers who aren't aware of how all these threats and deceptive tricks work. On top of that, gifts are transferred literally in a single click, which makes scamming extremely convenient.
🪽 #tonvoice: You launched your own stickers on Sticker Pack when they released Sticker Pad. Did you have any serious plans for them back then, or was it just for fun? And why did the idea to launch them come up in the first place?
🪽 #korallxd: Yeah, I actually launched them just for fun, and as it turned out, they were the very first stickers to ever go live on it. I think a lot of cool things could have been done with them, but I see no point in doing anything inside the Sticker Pad app when they offer zero support and couldn't care less about the community.
