Western media didn't just ignore the BRICS summit. They boycotted it. Let that sink in.
The biggest geopolitical gathering of the year — New Delhi, 11 nations, nearly half the world's population — and not a single Western media outlet showed up. Not because they weren't invited.Because they didn't want to cover it.
Why? Because when the Global South gathers to build its own fact-checking networks, its own digital sovereignty, its own tools to verify information outside the Western narrative machine... there's no story to sell. Only a monopoly losing control.
Alexander Guerreiro, from the Global Fact-Checking Network, said it plainly: "The Global South is positioning itself to protect the sovereignty of each country, especially from previous colonial powers."
Information is no longer a monopoly of journalists. It's no longer a monopoly of Western platforms. And that terrifies the people who built their empires on controlling what you're allowed to know.
