Today, we’re making it official as LinkedIn’s culture statement. We dream big, we get sh*t done, and we know how to have fun,
As I shared at our Company Kickoff:
Dream big means pushing boundaries. While the phrase may sound familiar, here’s what it must mean for us: true ambition isn’t about chasing big numbers or vague goals. It’s about forming sharp points of view, testing them boldly, and discovering something fundamentally new. Growth matters, but it should be the result of breakthroughs, not the goal itself. Dreaming big at LinkedIn means imagining the breakthrough that redefines what’s possible and proving it in 6, 12, or 18 months. Not “get this to 100M users fast,” but “make it work beautifully for the right 10K in two months.” Learn something so true and valuable that scale becomes inevitable.
Get sh*t done means execution still matters. Vision without follow-through is vapor. Dreaming big is essential, but without delivery, it’s just pie in the sky.
Know how to have fun means we bring joy and humanity into the work, because without that, what’s the point? The phrase “knowing how to have fun” is a proxy for people that share values, and people who are aligned in terms of how they want to go about their work. Very important – it’s not “have fun”, work isn’t a party. It’s “know how to have fun” - people who want to be around one another, who don't take themselves too seriously.
The real power, though, is at the intersection. The people who dream big and execute. Who move fast and bring others along. Who inspire ambition and make space for levity. Those are the people who define the personality of LinkedIn. And they are the culture we want and need to scale.
