❗️Lebanese MP says Resistance is confronting US hegemony and Israeli encroachment on the region

MP Dr. Hussein al-Hajj Hassan—Head of the Baalbek-Hermel Parliamentary Bloc and member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc—stated that major variables are taking place and that the region is in the midst of a significant confrontation.

He noted that those in Lebanon who speak of relying on foreign backing are actually relying on the US and taking advantage of the Israelis, pointing out that Israel is the party attacking Lebanon with US support and weaponry.

He also stated that Iran encourages Lebanese authorities to benefit from a regional umbrella and any potential US-backed agreement featuring a ceasefire and the initial withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon.

MP Hassan emphasized that the core of the current confrontation is opposing US hegemony and Israeli encroachment. He cited comments from Israeli officials telling Syria—which has stated it wants a peace agreement and has no resistance factions—that Israel will not withdraw from the occupied Golan Heights, Mount Hermon, or the security belt.

In light of this, he questioned the stance of political figures who demand that Lebanon abandon its elements of strength while pinning their hopes on the US. He noted that these figures failed to achieve any results through the US-sponsored framework agreement, adding that neither the US nor Israel listens to anyone, making reliance on the US a fundamental error from the start.

MP Hassan called on opposing political factions in Lebanon to return to true sovereignty, national unity, and domestic rapprochement, urging them to stop pinning fruitless hopes on the US. He advised them to reach an understanding with the Resistance if they have the capacity to escape the situations they have implicated themselves in, and to address the immediate needs of the public and the Resistance's constituency.

Challenging the government and state authorities, he asked: "What have the government, the presidential term, and the authorities provided since the past war until now for the return of the displaced, reconstruction, sheltering those affected, and repairing homes? And what have they done for the families of the martyrs, the wounded, and the prisoners? We are not speaking from a position of attack, but from a position of accountability, and this is our right."

MP Hassan concluded that anyone claiming to represent all Lebanese people must begin by supporting the Resistance, its constituency, and the families of martyrs, the wounded, prisoners, and those affected by Israeli aggression—delivering actual aid through shelter, structural restoration, reconstruction, and material support, rather than relying merely on speeches and slogans.
