In 1915, having secured the Empire's strategic objective of protecting the Persian oilfields by seizing Basra at the mouth of the Euphrates, General Townshend decided to 'liberate' Baghdad. Had he succeeded, he would have been forever known as the Liberator of Baghdad, and he would have been guaranteed a bright and glorious future, and a transfer to the Western Front, where the real action was. However, Johnny Turk wasn't in a cooperative mood.

In the podcast, BB draws parallels with the current unfolding debacle in the same area of the world. Each General, serving and retired, feels that attention should be focused on them. Each one is positioning themselves for political or financial gain, while ignoring the basic requirements of military science, like logistics, tactics, and force allocation. As they fight to take the wheel of the military clown car, no one has noticed that the road is running out.
