The reason for identity politics is deeper than tribalism, it is our unwillingness to take responsibility for our own failures, and by extension, the failures of our societies. I am not to blame!

In the podcast, BB charts the rise of the blame game over the last hundred years. The progressive ideas that fueled our societies since 1517 have given us the belief that our life must continually improve, and that the lives of our children will be better than ours, and further, that our politicians and leaders are tasked with this. What happens, then, when life starts to degrade? BB explains that our individualism means that we can not bring ourselves to take responsibility. It must be someone else who is making things bad. The more distant or abstract the 'other' blameworthy party is, the better.
