🇺🇸 The United Nations (UN) and Pope Leo XIV expressed their firm opposition to the U.S. administration’s decision to broadcast live the execution of former soldier Nidal Malik Hasan, scheduled for December 3.

🇻🇦 The UN warned that the mass broadcast amounts to a public execution that violates the international prohibition against torture. For his part, the pontiff denounced capital punishment as an attack on the sanctity of human life and maintained that justice can be ensured without resorting to executions.

⚠️ The measure announced by the Pentagon marks the first U.S. military execution since 1961 and has sparked severe international criticism, as it is considered a cruel and inhumane precedent.
