🇺🇸🇷🇺⚡️ — The White House is monitoring a suspected plague case and related quarantines in Russia’s Irkutsk region and is “assessing options,” a Trump administration official told Axios.

The case involves 28-year-old anti-plague laboratory worker Daria Shipilova, who Russian authorities said broke a test tube containing the pneumonic plague pathogen on September 25. She was hospitalized with severe pneumonia on September 29 and died between October 1 and 2.

Several medical facilities were subsequently quarantined and nearly 200 contacts placed under observation, although officials say they have tested negative and shown no symptoms.
