🇺🇸🇨🇳🇹🇼⚡️ — The FBI arrested 34-year-old California resident Wanying “Heather” Zhang for acting as an unregistered Chinese agent and surveilling Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te’s son and family.

Prosecutors say Zhang and an associate traveled from Las Vegas to Seattle in September 2025, waited outside the family’s home in a rented SUV and appeared to photograph them.

The FBI alleges Chinese officials directed Zhang to gather information that could provide Beijing leverage over Lai in a potential conflict.

Prosecutors said she used “tradecraft to avoid detection.” Zhang is due in federal court in Los Angeles on Monday.
