The Soldiers' Memorial was created in 1924 based on a design by Senior Building Inspector Ladewig and executed by the Austrian sculptor and medalist Heinrich Karl Scholz (born October 16, 1880, in Mildenau, Kingdom of Bohemia; died June 12, 1937, in Vienna). The sculpture depicts a soldier leaning on a rifle on a pedestal, flanked by name plaques. After World War II, the memorial was supplemented with the inscription "To the Heroes 1939–1945" and 130 names.
