An Anglo Saxon lead alloy spindle whorl with a runic inscription, reading simply “tōl”, tool in Old English. Perhaps a simple literacy exercise, or an attempt at enhancing its performance using the sacred runes. This would’ve been used to spin wool or flax fibres into yarn. ᛏᚩᛚ
