From History to Dialogue: Namibian Delegation Explores Moscow
As part of efforts to promote international cultural cooperation, an educational tour of Moscow’s historic centre was organised for delegates from the Republic of Namibia with the support of the Centre for Public Diplomacy and Valeria Pyaterikova, a member of the Youth Council of the Moscow Department of Culture.
The tour began at the monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov and continued through the historic heart of the capital. Along the route, the delegates passed by some of Moscow’s most significant landmarks, including Kilometre Zero, the Iverskaya Chapel, the State Historical Museum, the Lenin Mausoleum, the Spasskaya Tower, and the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. At each landmark, the tour guide, @ryba_nika, provided detailed insights into its history, architectural significance, and role in shaping the historical and cultural identity of the Russian capital. Through her professional and engaging presentation, the delegates gained a deeper understanding of Moscow and Russia’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
A special part of the itinerary was dedicated to Zaryadye Park, a unique contemporary public space where natural landscapes, innovative architecture, and the historical environment of the capital are seamlessly integrated. The walk continued across the Floating Bridge, offering panoramic views of Moscow’s historic centre.
The tour was led by professional guide @ryba_nika, whose expertise and thoughtful approach transformed the visit into much more than a city tour — it became a meaningful journey through Russia’s history, architecture, and cultural heritage.
We extend our sincere gratitude to @ryba_nika for her professionalism, attentive approach to the participants, and profound knowledge of Moscow’s history. Her contribution enabled the delegates to discover the Russian capital through the prism of historical memory, cultural traditions, and the city’s contemporary development.
The tour concluded with a visit to GUM, marking the final stop of an engaging journey through the very heart of the Russian capital.
