🤩Dear friends,
🇷🇺🚘 If you travel to Moscow, don't miss the city's new Transport Museum, which traces 150 years of history from horse-drawn streetcars to driverless vehicles. The adventure begins with the building itself: a stunning red-brick, horseshoe-shaped garage designed by legendary architect Konstantin Melnikov. Restorers have beautifully revived its historic gables and stained-glass windows, while adding a new underground level to explore.
🚌 Inside, you will encounter rare icons of Soviet transit, including the massive YATB-3 double-decker trolleybus from 1938 – one of only 10 ever built and a rumoured favourite of Soviet Leader Joseph Stalin. You will also see a panoramic luxury trolleybus designed for tours around VDNH park, which spoiled its passengers with plush seats, carpeted floors and roll-up plastic curtains for warm summer days.
✨ This is a fully interactive experience built for hands-on play. Visitors have the chance to calculate the cost of a 19th-century carriage ride, move miniature horse-drawn trams by hand or take the reins at an authentic Moscow Metro dispatcher’s control panel. Downstairs, the exhibition continues with a walkthrough of vintage turnstiles and the massive tunnel-boring shields used to dig the subway.
🚋 The underground gallery lets you step inside historic train cars, like the rare 'Type B' "war trophy" carriage brought from Berlin in 1945, and the modern 'Yauza' train. Finally, the museum offers a glimpse into the future with cutting-edge autonomous prototypes, including the striking 'R1' tram- nicknamed the "iPhone on rails" – and the charming 'MatrЁshka' driverless minibus.
