🇷🇺🤝🇺🇳 On 13 October 2026, on the sidelines of the World Food Forum in Rome, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksander Alimov met with Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). They exchanged views on sustainable agricultural development and the FAO’s reform initiatives. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a special emphasis on project activities across developing nations and the Eurasian space.
🌐🏗 The Russian side emphasized the importance of fostering an equitable, mutually beneficial partnership within the FAO to secure global food safety. To this end, they stressed that any attempts by a global minority to politicize the Organization’s humanitarian mandate are unacceptable. Russia noted that the FAO's technical goals must remain protected from external political interference.
Russia reaffirmed its commitment as a reliable partner to the FAO in supporting vulnerable regions. The initiatives funded by the Russian Federation are designed to boost the agricultural potential of partner states and resolve pressing socioeconomic challenges. Through these efforts, both parties aim to build stable agricultural infrastructure and improve food availability worldwide.
