🍓 Jam — a taste of childhood and the warmth of home
In Russian culture, some things instantly bring back memories of home, summer, and the care of loved ones. Homemade jam is one of them.
The aroma of strawberries, raspberries, or blackcurrants slowly simmering on the stove, glass jars carefully lined up on the shelves, tea served in beautiful cups, pastries, and long conversations around the table — all of this creates that special feeling of Russian coziness.
For many people, jam is associated with summer houses, a grandmother’s kitchen, fruit gardens, and warm evenings. It was prepared with care, preserving a little piece of sunny summer for the long winter months.
Jam also held a special place in the tradition of Russian tea drinking. It was served with pancakes, fresh bread, fritters, and, of course, hot tea from a samovar. It was more than a sweet treat — it was a symbol of hospitality, care, and warmth.
What kind of jam brings back the warmest memories for you? 🍒☕
