DV2027 update. Here's the actual order amending the timeline going forward:

October 29, 2026, at midnight EST: Publicly announce entry period on DOS website (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news.html);

November 1, 2026, at midnight EST: Registration period opens; and

December 3, 2026: DOS SHALL notify, the selectees eligible to apply for a Diversity Visa for FY2027.

Ohta ordered Rubio to publicly announce the registration period for the program no later than midnight on Oct. 15.

“The announcement shall identify the opening and closing dates of the registration period, the website through which individuals may submit electronic entries, and the requirements for participating in the program,” Ohta, a Joe Biden appointee, wrote. “Defendant shall further disseminate this information through the State Department’s other customary public notification channels, including the Federal Register.”
Additionally, the registration period must last 30 days, Ohta ruled.

Morrison said he filed a joint motion to extend that deadline to two weeks later to prevent any hiccups.

DV-2027 update:

On behalf of Red Eagle, I have joined Rubio in a stipulated motion to extend the State Department’s timeline to start the DV-2027 entry period by 2 weeks, and deadline to announce selectees by 2 weeks.

It is up to judge whether to grant the stipulated motion.

My hope is this extension will be used by KCC to rollout the DV-2027 entry period efficiently, and without glitches. 🤞

In Medani v Trump, the Trump administration has appealed Judge Davila’s orders to the higher court (Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals).
However, this appeal does not impact the implementation of orders now underway. Actually, this appeal is unlikely to be relevant in a few weeks. It will likely be dismissed eventually for mootness.

🚨Medani v Trump DV-2026 Updates:

Judge Davila has issued an order allowing the 10-day adjudication period to resume October 14, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. (local time at embassy).

Further, he has clarified that “Applications” are defined as all DS-260 Forms successfully submitted. This will hopefully mean we will see at least some 2NLS for DV-2026 applicants who have not attended interview. Further, he ordered that DOS needs to send a copy of his order to embassies with their guidance cable.

Also, we have filed a status report bringing 3 issues to the judge's attention:

(1) CEAC saying "Your search did not return any data." for some plaintiffs.
(2) Limbo faced by selectees whose passports are still at embassy. (using Nepali plaintiffs as example)
(3) US Embassy Lima returning passports with refusal notices that don't state a refusal ground.

(We omitted the exhibits in the public version for plaintiff privacy.)

We understand that there are other issues that plaintiffs and class members face, but drowning the judge in all of them at once would not be effective.

Hoping for the best from October 14, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. through October 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.! 🙏

FAQ: When does the 10-day DV-2026 resumption period begin?

Answer: In Medani v Trump, on October 9, 2026, the government asked the court if the processing could instead resume "from October 14, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. through October 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., according to the local time of each diplomatic and consular post that processes and adjudicates such diversity visa applications.” Medani plaintiffs did not oppose that request.

While Judge Davila has not yet issued an order on that request, we believe the government is acting as-if the request was approved. Thus, the resumption period should begin very soon (exact time depends upon where you are located on the crazy little blue ball 🌍).
