Gutfeld: "Our Melting Pot Has Turned Into A Junk Drawer," Victimhood Has Replaced Assimilation

On Friday's "The Five," co-host Greg Gutfeld criticized progressive politics and what he described as a culture of victimhood that discourages assimilation

GREG GUTFELD: What -- first I got to talk about Piker. His suits never fit. Have you noticed that?

JESSE WATTERS: Big fit.

SHANNON BREAM: I think it's on purpose though. That's a look.

GUTFELD: Yes, I'd say get a tailor, but he probably couldn't get a Jewish one. But they don't fit.

So yes, the Jews are leaving, and I got to say, what took you so long? Why are you sticking with people who hate you? It's not like you're married, especially after October 7th, where you were openly despised, chased, harassed, and the suffering of people were mocked. They tore down posters. You could say, yes, it's about Israel.

That's not what I saw in New York City or on any campuses. I saw a lot of Jewish students on campus, the ones who were brave enough not to cosplay as part of the pro-Hamasa crusade, getting harassed, getting trapped, you know, for the -- I would call this a come-to-Jesus moment for the Jews. Probably not going to work, but --

JESSICA TARLOV: It was ours first.

GUTFELD: Yes, but you don't have to come to Jesus. Just don't get in the car with Muhammad (ph), all right? You never know where it's going to go. Takes a tremendous amount of denial to support somebody like Abdul with links to the Muslim Brotherhood if you're Jewish, who sees Israel as the enemy, pushes rhetoric like genocide to cancel out the historical weight of the Holocaust. That's the whole point. These people call Jews Nazis.

Meanwhile, who's the other guy you got? Mike Rogers. He's a 14-year congressman with a 53 percent rating from Heritage, who's against tariffs. That's not even MAGA light, you know. But you know, you're going to choose from the river to the sea over a boring, harmless Republican. That doesn't make any sense.

Jesse makes a good point. Our melting pot has turned into a junk drawer, and right now, what we're seeing is people taking advantage of it. You have candidates, activists, students arriving here and discovering an environment that fits their Islamist theme of Western oppression. It's our progressive structure of grievance. They just go right because they come here hating the West and believing they're oppressed, and they come to a country of progressives that give them the recognition and the exemption that says, yes, you're right. We're really bad.

And normally, when somebody comes here, we expect grace, competence, a willingness to kind of like blend and enjoy the reasons why you came here. Instead, we're apologizing our way to destruction, and that's I mean it kind of scares me if you look at like Abdul and you look at Piker, you look at Ilhan. You're seeing what happens when this structure of victimhood replaces the melting pot of assimilation.

And I worry that we're going to we're going to lose this national idea. We can't even ask people to get along without that being attack on their marginalized identity, why don't you guys just mellow out? We're good people. How dare you? You're attacking me. It's like we're being exploited.
