FOX News contributor Marc Thiessen argued on "Special Report" that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is making a mistake by publicly criticizing President Donald Trump.
DAN HOFFMAN, FORMER CIA MOSCOW STATION CHIEF: The Trump administration needs to think about what our goal is here. Do we want to win this?
MIKE POMPEO, FORMER U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE: We should make sure that we are providing all the stuff that the Ukrainians need to put pressure on Russia. We need to put America first by supporting these people.
GEN. JACK KEANE (RET), FOX NEWS SENIOR STRATEGIC ANALYST: Starlink gives the Ukrainians when they are intercepting drones and missiles the capabilities to move. That capability was reduced. Why and who ordered that or why it took place, I don't have the answer.
VOLODYMYR ZELENSKYY, UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT: It's a pity that we're losing -- we are losing a strong partner.
PIERS MORGAN, FOX NATION HOST: You think you're losing America?
ZELENSKYY: Yes, but not because of us.
BRET BAIER, FOX NEWS: President Zelenskyy saying losing America, this after the Starlink, the Starshield system, was slowed down, and Zelenskyy alleges that led to their inability to stop attacks from Russia that led the deaths of Ukrainians on the ground.
We're back with the panel. Marc, Elon Musk put out a statement yesterday on X saying "Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the U.S. government. Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the U.S. military and ultimately POTUS." The president of the United States. "Starlink is controlled by SpaceX and cannot be used for offensive military action." What do you make of this?
MARC THIESSEN, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: So I'm with Jack Keane. I understand that it's been turned back on and everything is back to normal. It was a terrible decision that should have never happened, but I'm glad it's been reversed. I don't know who made the decision, but I'm glad it's reversed.
But here's the thing. Zelenskyy is just misplaying this terribly. He doesn't seem to understand that this whole situation with the diesel deal and with the push for the pause on attacks, it's not about Ukraine policy. It's not about the war. It's about the midterms. Trump is worried about diesel prices costing the Republicans Nebraska and Iowa and Kansas and other farm states.
And so he's trying to demonstrate to the American people, to voters in those states that he's fixing the diesel price problem. And so if you're Ukrainians and you know that, then what you understand is you have a three- week problem. The midterms are in three weeks. Keep your head low, don't say anything stupid, and don't make the problem bigger by opening your mouth.
Zelenskyy is not on the panel, right? He's the president of the country. His job, if he has complaints, he should take them to the president directly. But you don't go on television and say I've been betrayed. Trump is weak, and then reporters go to Trump and say Zelenskyy called you weak. And then we're off to the races with this bad blood again. He needs to learn the fine art of shutting up.
BAIER: OK, Marc, but for the people who say by doing the deal with Putin you are then empowering him on his efforts inside Ukraine and saying that there is a ceasefire when Russia continues to fire at Ukrainian energy facilities, they have a problem with all that.
THIESSEN: It's a terrible idea, and there's a lot of opposition to it in Washington. Let the policy process play out. There are a lot of Republicans who are against it, and once the midterms are over, the pressure for a deal on diesel goes away. The pressure on Ukraine to stop firing at energy targets. What the Ukrainians if they were smart would say nothing about a deal. Let it play out in Washington, and stop firing at energy refineries for three weeks.
