With a half-hearted definition of the nation as an ethnobiological entity (macroanthropos), we are still far from our basic idea: that every mature nation has its own soul. That every nation is, in its own way, a personal entity. A large, expanded, enlarged man, the nation as a biological unit is at the same time a spiritual structure. The national spirit is a natural corollary (consequence) of the national biological body.
The unique spiritual structure of a nation is manifested for centuries by an identical spiritual system of action and reaction, an identical spiritual life from its most primitive to its most complex cultural creation. The physical kinship of the people of a nation corresponds to their spiritual kinship. The national soul lives in generations. These generations are its biological substance. How? It is a huge secret, unsolved and insoluble. Just as mysterious, but also obvious, as the secret of the duality of soul and body in an individual.
One people, through the centuries, rejoices and grieves, sings and cries, reconciles and quarrels, defends and attacks in the same way. Its spiritual, emotional, and volitional acts of spiritual trinity are identical.
The same in both the common man and the genius of the nation. In the greatest Serbian creators - artists of all kinds, theologians, philosophers, scientists, national leaders - a spirit of the same kind blows, because it springs from the roots of the national personality.
