What is a good analytics service?

I’m currently using Matomo for general analytics on two sites. I just spent the better part of a day chasing a ghost on my servers that was inflating the numbers and causing massive CPU spikes. I finally found it buried in the timers on a different server—something I likely set up months ago and forgot about. This really made me stop and think about whether I still want to keep tracking all this stuff. All I really want is a general idea of whether my sites are being visited; I don’t care about the other details like OS, browser, etc. Is there an alternative that anyone uses or can suggest trying?
