I'm not a Wine developer. I just needed Adobe for my work and didn't want to keep Windows around for it, so over the last weeks I put together (with a lot of help from Claude, an AI coding assistant) a patched Wine that runs the current Creative Cloud apps on my laptop. It works well enough for me now that it seems worth sharing. I know plenty of people who'd like to get off both Windows and macOS, keep working in Adobe, and still tinker with their own machines. Maybe it helps some of you too.
AdobeWine is Wine 11.18 plus 53 patches. It's open source (LGPL, like Wine), and every patch comes with a small test program. On my one machine (CachyOS, i9-13900H, RTX 4070 laptop, KDE Plasma Wayland), with a normal paid sign-in, these work:
- Creative Cloud desktop: sign-in, installing apps, Adobe Fonts
- Photoshop 27.10 (Remove Background, Generative Fill and Neural Filters also work)
- Illustrator 30.8
- Premiere Pro 26.5 with CUDA/NVENC export, close to Windows speed
- Media Encoder 26.5 and Audition 26.5
Please keep expectations modest. It has only been tested on that one laptop, with NVIDIA. I have no idea yet how it does on AMD or Intel GPUs, on other distributions, or with other Adobe apps. That's really why I'm posting: I'd love people to try it and tell me what breaks.
- No Adobe software is included, and nothing touches licensing. You need your own subscription.
- Install: build from source (instructions for Arch, Debian/Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE). An AUR package is coming.

Thanks to PhialsBasement, whose Adobe patches were my starting point, and to the Wine, DXVK and vkd3d-proton people, whose work all of this sits on. Feedback, bug reports and patches are very welcome.
