Ouch ... TIL: German "dementsprechend" is not from "dement sprechend"

I (not German) read some German magazines. Which use "dementsprechend". Which I thought was from "dement-sprechend", so "dement" (German adjective of dementia) and "sprechend" (speaking). Weird!

So I looked up the etymology ... it's from "dem-entsprechend" .. so ... a bit like "with/from that following/matching" (sorry, not native English either) ... so "accordingly".

Ouch!
