Amnesty International Germany has awarded its Human Rights Prize to Palestinian lawyer Khaled Quzmar, recognizing more than three decades of work defending Palestinian children detained and prosecuted in Israeli military courts.

Quzmar, former head of Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP), has documented violations against Palestinian minors and provided legal assistance to children and their families despite years of pressure, threats and smear campaigns by Israeli authorities.

Amnesty said Israeli intelligence threatened him with a lengthy prison sentence.
