A Reuters report documented the severe damage to Gaza's olive industry, once a major source of food, income and employment.

Gaza agricultural authorities estimate that only about 150,000 of the territory's two million pre-war olive trees remain standing.

The expected harvest has fallen from approximately 40,000 tonnes of olives to 5,000 tonnes. Olive-oil production is projected to fall from 5,000 tonnes to about 700 tonnes, while only seven of roughly 40 oil presses remain operational.
