🟢 On October 9, 2026, a meeting of the Shymkent Environmental Working Group was held at the premises of PetroKazakhstan Oil Products LLP.
The meeting brought together residents of communities located near the refinery, representatives of the Yenbekshi District Akimat, the Shymkent Urban Environment Development Department, the Shymkent Department of Ecology, the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control, the prosecutor’s office, and members of the public.
The discussions primarily focused on ambient air quality and the occurrence of unusual odors near the boundaries of the refinery’s sanitary protection zone and in adjacent residential areas.
Within the working group’s activities, participants visited PKOP’s production facilities. Air quality measurements were jointly conducted by specialists from the refinery’s laboratory and representatives of the Department of Ecology.
According to the measurement results, no exceedances of the maximum permissible concentrations of air pollutants were detected at the monitored locations within the refinery premises.
Members of the working group discussed further measures to monitor environmental conditions and strengthen cooperation among government authorities, the refinery, and residents of nearby communities.
PKOP continues its efforts to ensure environmental safety, minimize the environmental impact of its operations, and comply with established environmental protection requirements.
Open dialogue with local communities, objective environmental monitoring, and close cooperation with government authorities remain essential components of the company’s systematic approach to environmental safety.
