🚀 We are hiring a PhD student in Multimodal Sensor Design for Agrifood!

🏫 At Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), within the B-PHOT Brussels Photonics research group, we are looking for a motivated PhD student to join the MOSAIC project – Multimodal Optical Sensing and AI for Crop & Food Safety.

🔬 What will you work on?
You will contribute to the development of a new generation of handheld, all-in-one optical sensors for real-time and non-destructive analysis of plants and food products, while collaborating within an interdisciplinary research environment.

📝 Your research will combine:
💡 UV-VIS-NIR, fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy

🤖 Machine learning and AI-driven data analysis

📐 Optical design and miniaturisation using freeform optics

🎓 We have an exciting fully funded PhD opportunity within Rinn Semiconductors – Ireland’s Research Centre for Semiconductor Innovation, based at Tyndall National Institute and University College Cork.

📝 The project will focus on visible/UV laser technologies and photonic integration for next-generation endoscopy. The successful candidate will design photonic integrated circuits and pulsing schemes for fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM), working across:
🔹 UV/violet lasers operating at 375–400 nm
🔹 Pulsed laser architectures and mode-locking strategies
🔹 Photonic integrated circuits and heterogeneous integration
🔹 Simulation, fabrication and experimental validation
🔹 Translational photonics for advanced medical diagnostics

✨ This is a four-year PhD studentship offering full tuition fees and a €25,000 annual tax-free stipend. The student will have access to Tyndall’s world-class fabrication and characterisation facilities and collaborate with experts in photonics, biophotonics, heterogeneous integration, packaging and clinical research.

🔎 I am pleased to announce the inaugural edition of FPSLOC 2026, which will bring together researchers, faculty members, students, and professionals working in optics and photonics.

🔸این فراخوان با هدف توسعه راهکارهای بومی، ارتقای آمادگی شرکت‌های فعال حوزه امنیت اطلاعات برای گذار به نسل جدید رمزنگاری و تسریع انطباق محصولات امنیتی با استانداردهای بین‌المللی، اعلام شده است.

🔹شرکت‌های دانش‌بنیان و فناور فعال در حوزه امنیت اطلاعات، پژوهشکده‌ها و آزمایشگاه‌های تخصصی دارای شخصیت حقوقی و تیم‌های دانشگاهی تحت نظارت یک مجموعه حقوقی معتبر می‌توانند در این فراخوان مشارکت کنند.

🎓 Excellent PhD opportunity in Spain

🔎 Prof. Enrique Ortega of the Centro de Fisica de Materiales in San Sebastian (https://lnkd.in/etWp4Fkg) is urgently looking for a candidate for a very ambitious project on the synthesis and surface-science characterization of 2D porous Silicon networks.

📝 The PhD student will utilize
• Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) synthesis and sample preparation.
• Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) for real-space atomic imaging.
• Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) to map electronic band structures.
• X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Low-Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED) for chemical and structural analysis.
• Synchrotron Radiation Campaigns at international large-scale facilities.
