A Roman centurion prayed in Caesarea, unaware that his prayers would help open a new chapter in the life of the Church. An angel told Cornelius to send for the Apostle Peter. At the same time, God was preparing Peter through a vision of his own.

Cornelius gathered his family and friends to hear Peter speak about Jesus Christ. While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit came upon them. Peter then ordered that they be baptised. The moment revealed that the Gospel was open to Gentiles as well as Jews.

Saint Cornelius the Centurion, pray to God for us.
