He fled from God’s call—but even in the depths of the sea, he could not escape His mercy. The Holy Prophet Jonah’s journey through a storm, a great fish and the darkness of its belly became a powerful revelation of prayer, repentance and a second chance.

Sent to warn Nineveh, Jonah discovered that God’s compassion extended even to people he wanted to see punished. When the city repented, God spared it, teaching His prophet that divine mercy reaches beyond our fears, prejudices and anger.

Jonah’s three days and nights within the fish also foreshadowed Christ’s burial and Resurrection. His story reminds us that no darkness is beyond God’s reach—and that the call to repentance is also an invitation to return to His love.

Holy Prophet Jonah, pray to God for us.
