"Then the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head..." (John 19:2)
The Crown of Thorns was meant to shame Christ, yet it became a sign of His immeasurable love and voluntary sacrifice for the salvation of the world. Every wound He endured, every step He took toward Golgotha, and every moment upon the Cross reveals the depth of God's mercy for mankind.
This beautiful Akathist to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bearer of the Crown of Thorns and the Cross invites us to contemplate His Passion with repentance, gratitude, and hope. Whether prayed during times of suffering, in preparation for Holy Week, or as part of your regular prayer rule, it draws the heart closer to the crucified and risen Lord.
May Christ, who bore the Cross for our salvation, strengthen us to bear our own crosses with faith, humility, and love.

The Supreme Court's recent birthright citizenship ruling has reignited a national debate over sovereignty, citizenship, and the limits of governmental power. But these questions are far older than today's headlines.
In 1929, Saintly Martyr Ionel Moța delivered a remarkable lecture examining the League of Nations, warning that international institutions cannot secure lasting peace or justice unless they rest upon a shared Christian moral foundation. His reflections on national sovereignty, political authority, and the dangers of supranational governance remain strikingly relevant nearly a century later.

Whether you agree or disagree with his conclusions, this historical Orthodox Christian perspective offers valuable insight into debates that continue to shape our world today.

June 17th for their Feast Day - Akathist to the Holy Martyrs Manuel, Savel, and Ismael
(The Three Holy Brothers martyred in Persia under Julian the Apostate, 362 AD) These valiant brothers, sent as peace envoys by Emperor Julian himself, boldly confessed Christ before the pagan fire-worshippers, endured cruel tortures with joy, and received the crown of martyrdom together in the flames. Their love for Christ was stronger than brotherly blood, stronger than fear of death. Now they stand before the Throne of God, praying for all who call upon them in faith — especially for courage in persecution, for unity among brethren, and for strength to confess Orthodoxy without compromise. The modern American identity is often assumed to be neutral—just economics, politics, and culture. But beneath it lies a powerful moral vision that quietly shapes what people value, pursue, and ultimately worship.

This article examines “Americanism” as a kind of anti-gospel: a system of meaning formed by consumerism, nationalism, and liberal modernity that can replace deeper spiritual life with competing loyalties.

New Akathist: The Raising of Lazarus

Before Holy Week and Lazarus Saturday, the Church reminds us of one of the greatest miracles of Christ: raising Lazarus from the dead after four days in the tomb. A beautiful new Akathist of the Raising of Lazarus has been published. It is deeply prayerful, rich in theology, and perfect for personal devotion during Great Lent or throughout the year. In this Akathist we cry out to Christ, the Conqueror of death:
“Jesus, You who raised Lazarus from the dead before Your Passion, show us Your Resurrection!”
This is a powerful prayer for anyone seeking resurrection in their own life — from the tombs of sin, despair, addiction, or hopelessness. Read and pray it here:

Highly recommended for Orthodox Christians, catechumens, and inquirers alike. Save it, pray it, and share it with those preparing for Pascha.“Christ is the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Him, though he may die, he shall live.”

The Orthodox Threat to the American Status Quo

Why is the Orthodox Church suddenly being noticed — and in some circles, viewed as a problem? Not because we seek political power. Not because we’re “right-wing” or “left-wing.” But because a genuine, ancient Christian faith that actually heals souls, builds strong families, demands repentance, and rejects the modern gospel of endless consumption and comfort is a direct threat to a system built on broken, isolated, and addicted people. Porn, Big Pharma, social media algorithms, the divorce industry, entertainment, and debt-based finance all thrive when men and women remain spiritually sick. Orthodoxy offers the opposite: discipline, real community, sacramental life, and union with Christ. This excellent new essay explains what’s really happening as Orthodoxy continues to grow in America:

Read here:
https://orthodoxreflections.com/the-orthodox-threat-to-the-american-status-quo/

A must-read for every Orthodox Christian, inquirer, and anyone who senses that something is deeply wrong with modern life. Share this with friends who are searching for the ancient faith.“The Church is not here to change the world through politics. She is here to change people through Christ. And changed people inevitably change the world around them.”— Well worth your time.

☦️ AKATHIST TO SAINT TIMOTHY AND HIS WIFE MAVRA ☦️
Married for only twenty days before facing persecution, the Holy Martyrs Timothy and Mavra demonstrated extraordinary faith, courage, and devotion to Christ. Rather than abandoning their faith, they strengthened one another to endure suffering and receive the crown of martyrdom.
Their witness reminds us that Christian marriage is not merely an earthly bond, but a path to eternal union with Christ.

Being a Military Family in the Age of Trump
As an Orthodox Christian military family, the illusions have been stripped away. We watch the same cycle continue: endless wars, elite enthusiasm for conflict, and the quiet reality that it is our sons and daughters who carry the burden. When someone casually pushes for "boots on the ground" in the next hotspot, the question is always the same: "Which of your children is going with mine?" This piece is a raw, honest reflection on what it means to raise a family in the military today — the spiritual weight, the fear of becoming a Gold Star family, the disconnect between those who decide and those who pay the price, and the prayers we offer daily for peace and the salvation of our warriors’ souls. If you serve, love someone who serves, or simply care about the human cost of war, I encourage you to read it. Read the full article here:

Protestants Lacking in Discernment: Ben Franklin Edition

Many Evangelicals are currently celebrating Benjamin Franklin as a great Christian hero thanks to a new faith-based movie. But history paints a very different picture.
Lifelong Freemason
Printer and promoter of Masonic texts
Deeply involved in the Lodge for decades
His famous “prayer motion” at the Constitutional Convention was rejected by the delegates
The myth of Franklin as a born-again proto-Evangelical is not history — it is Americanist hagiography. When love for the American Experiment overrides the Faith once delivered to the saints, discernment disappears. Orthodoxy calls us to something higher than patriotic mythology. We are called to love truth, not convenient founding-father legends. Read the full article here:

True Christianity is not found in 18th-century Deists and Masons. It is preserved in the Orthodox Church. What do you think? Are we too harsh in judging the Founders by Christian standards, or are many Protestants too lenient because of their love for America?
