Rediscover the Saints of the Christian West

St. Martin of Tours is one of the great saints of the ancient Christian West—a bishop, monk, missionary, evangelist, and defender of the Faith.

For Orthodox Christians, developing a deeper connection with the Western saints is an important way of remembering the universal heritage of the Church. For Western Christians, discovering saints like Martin offers an opportunity to rediscover the Christian heritage of their own lands—a heritage that stretches back centuries before the Reformation.

The saints of the West should not be forgotten. They belong to the story of Orthodox Christianity and to the spiritual heritage of Western Europe.
