Who Honors a Tyrant?

American Orthodox Christians from the Greek Archdiocese are planning a high-profile dinner in New York on September 26 to honor Volodymyr Zelensky. This is the same Zelensky who has:
• Seized approximately 1,500 churches from the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC)
• Driven the ancient Church underground
• Banned it during wartime
• Handed the sacred Kiev Caves Lavra over to the schismatic OCU
• Persecuted faithful hierarchs like Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny

While Orthodox Christians in Ukraine suffer for remaining faithful to the canonical Church under Metropolitan Onuphry, some in America prepare to toast the man responsible. Would we ever honor Putin at such an event? Of course not.

Will American Orthodox remain silent in their jurisdictional silos — or will they stand up for their persecuted brethren and for religious freedom itself?
