The Holy Innocents: The First Martyrs of Christ
The Holy Innocents were children who never preached a sermon, carried a cross, or spoke the name of Christ — yet they became the first martyrs to suffer because of Him.
When King Herod sought to destroy the Christ Child, these innocent children were caught in his violence. But what appeared to be a tragedy became a testimony: their lives were received by God as a crown of glory.
The Orthodox Church remembers the Holy Innocents as a reminder that no innocent suffering is unseen by God. Their witness calls us to defend the vulnerable, protect children, and trust that Christ transforms even sorrow into victory.
