Кроме очень приятного факта обнаружения монеты в археологическом контексте в работе буквально в одном абзаце представлена краткая сводка китайских монет в западной части акватории Индийского океана (заметьте, в регионе Красного моря китайских монет практически нет…)Так что этот абзац хотелось привести здесь, как и найденную испанцами в Хандоге монету Северной Сун.

Chinese coins have now been reported from 16 sites in South and East India, ten sites in Sri Lanka, five sites in the Persian Gulf (two in Saudi Arabia, one in Dubai, two in Iran), one in Oman, three in southern Somalia, one in Kenya and three in Tanzania (Cribb 1996a and b). The discovery of a Northern Song coin in Djibouti is the first in the Red Sea area.
Two other Northern Song coins, a Huangsong tongbao (皇宋 通寶 current coin of the Imperial Song dynasty in clerk script, issued 1030), and a Yuanfeng tongbao (元豐通報 current coin of the Yuanfeng period in seal script, issued 1078–86), have also been reported as found at Harla in Ethiopia, a location close to Djibouti (Vigano 2014), although they appeared on the surface as isolated finds.
