Execution and settlement often get treated as the same step. They’re not.

Execution is the moment a trade is agreed — a price is matched, an order is filled. Settlement is what happens after: the actual transfer of ownership, the point where the asset and the payment truly change hands.

In traditional finance, this gap can take days — T+1, T+2, sometimes longer. The trade is done, but the money hasn’t really moved yet.

In stablecoin-based infrastructure, that gap collapses. Execution and settlement can happen almost simultaneously — value moves the instant the trade clears, not days later.

Understanding this distinction matters, because a system’s real speed isn’t measured by how fast it executes. It’s measured by how fast it settles.
