Good morning, dear friends! ☕️🙂
👽 The Molebka Triangle – Russia’s Bermuda Triangle in the Urals
Friends, today we are travelling to the border of Perm Krai and Sverdlovsk Oblast, deep into the forests along the Sylva River. In the late 1980s, a place here became the centre of the Soviet UFO hysteria – a place where clocks supposedly stop.
Welcome to the Molebka Triangle!
🗿 The Sacred Stone and the Mysterious Discovery
The name Molebka is derived from the Russian molebnaya (“place of prayer”). Here, the indigenous Mansi people made offerings at the sacred Molebny Kamen (“Prayer Stone”).
In the autumn of 1983, geologist Emil Batchurin discovered a perfectly circular, 62-metre-wide patch in a clearing: the snow had melted and the vegetation had been flattened. Shortly afterwards, he noticed that his wristwatch was running more than two hours slow. He was convinced: a UFO had landed.
📰 The Birth of a Legend
Batchurin reported telepathic contact and lights in the sky. In 1988, journalist Yuri Belikov made the story public. A year later, Pavel Mukhortov coined the term “M-Triangle” in Sovetskaya Molodyozh (in reference to the Bermuda Triangle).
Thousands of ufologists and curious visitors then flocked to the region.
👽 What Visitors Report
To this day, eyewitnesses report:
• Loss of time: clocks stop or show the wrong time.
• Objects in the sky: – glowing spheres and strange flying objects.
• Encounters: – black figures, voices, or even the Yeti.
• Technical failures: compasses go haywire.
Curiously, a group of Moldovan construction workers is said to have once fled in a panic, without collecting their wages.
🔬 What Science Says
Disappointingly, a 1992 expedition by Perm University found no magnetic-field anomalies or traces of foreign organisms.
The phenomena can be explained by natural conditions and the area’s former timber industry (charcoal production). To this day, there is no scientific evidence of anything supernatural.
🏕️ Molebka Today
Today, the triangle is a popular tourist destination. At the entrance to the area, a monument to “Alyosha the Alien” welcomes visitors.
There are wooden houses and banyas, guided tours, and more than 20 hiking routes to places such as the “Warm Birches” and the sacred Mansi sacrificial stone.
