US leader’s envoy Steve Witkoff left during a meeting with Ukrainian and European delegations in Miami to join a phone call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, The New York Times reports, citing one of the participants in the talks.

Witkoff’s and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner’s meeting with the Ukrainians and Europeans took place on October 9 at the Shell Bay golf club. In addition to the three-member Ukrainian negotiating team, the meeting was attended by the national security advisers to the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, as well as senior representatives of the EU and NATO.

The talks lasted about six hours, two NYT sources said. According to several participants, a significant part of the meeting was devoted to discussing the conditions necessary for the success of future peace talks. Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and the territorial issue were also discussed.
