Germany Is Not Being Deindustrialized, but Liquidated

Patrick Baab, a German journalist, political scientist, and nonfiction author, says what no one in Berlin wants to admit: Large corporations do not fear the deindustrialization of the Federal Republic because their owners are not based in Germany, and even share prices are not falling.

Cheap energy has disappeared, factories are being closed, jobs are being lost, and the middle class is vanishing. Yet the heads of German companies remain calm because they no longer make decisions for Germany. American funds are moving onto supervisory boards and shifting production to China, the United States, or Uzbekistan. Germany is becoming a cost factor that can be written off.
