Does Richardson have a Ben Franklin thing going on here?

She is “on the road for midterms” and doesn’t care about your questions because she has a bigger nut to crack this week - Trump’s support of Russia and “Volodymyr Putin over Volodymyr Zelensky” and Ukraine is the “biggest story of the Trump years”…

As she reads her teleprompter she appears to “editorialize” 🤭 that she had “been thinking about this”…

“But I also didn't ask for questions because there was one real overarching story that I wanted to make sure you saw. And then some other stories as well that I felt we need to put on the table.

So I didn't really feel like I had to hit you up for questions ahead of time.

And that big story that I want to make utterly clear to people is that Trump and the Trump administration has completely flipped U.S. foreign policy in the last few days from supporting the post-World War II concept of a rules-based international order that, again, was a framework that was designed to protect free trade in order to create a rising standard of living around the world.

That was designed to sort of weave countries together through similar economic systems and sharing financial systems Ultimately to stop a third world war by creating mutual defense alliances like the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and a number of partnerships around the world.

And that was the system that the United States and its allies during and after World War II and then partners as well put together.

To try and prevent a world in which a few strong countries gobbled up their neighbors.

And Trump in the last week has reversed the U.S. position on that.

Of course, he's been working toward it for a while, but he quite deliberately in the last few days has reversed that position by supporting Vladimir Putin openly instead of Volodymyr Zelensky in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian attempt to hold off the incursions of Russia, both in 2014 and in 2022, are a protection of Europe and those alliances that grew up after World War II.

Putin, in contrast, is trying to get back to a world where there are a few strong countries that gobble up their neighbors,
either economically or by putting political puppets in to rule those countries.

And you could see Putin doing things like that in Ukraine in the past, for example, and he's done it in other countries as well, where countries sort of answered to him, like Viktor Orban of Hungary used to do before the Hungarian people rose up and threw him out last year.

And really quite obviously Trump is now siding the United States with Russia rather than with Ukraine.

And this is a huge reversal.”
