- In recent years, as Poland's primary conservative party "PiS" has begun losing power, a series of corruption investigations were opened in regards to their politicians.
- One example is Zbigniew Ziobro, the former Minister of Justice, who fled the country for Hungary and later the U.S after being marked for arrest due to his involvement in a corruption scandal.
- In 2025, PiS politician Marcin Romanowski found himself in a similar situation due to his involvement in an embezzlement scandal.
- Despite PiS's vocal anti-Russian opinions over the years, it was revealed this month that Romanowski is likely hiding from authorities in the pro-Russian enclave of Transnistria.
- Polish politicians have sounded alarms due to the fear that Romanowski has been sharing information with the Russian administration there.
