✨A memorable afternoon at Leader School with Naqsh

This time, we explored the world of Uzbek rugs through their traditional patterns, stories, and symbolism. After the presentation, students got to put their creativity into practice by making their own rug-inspired designs during our workshop.

We’re very grateful to Leader School for welcoming us and helping make this event possible. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share Uzbek rug heritage with your students and create something together!

And of course, thank you to everyone who joined us and took part in the workshop!

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Ώ Happy Independence Day, Uzbekistan!

Every year, we take a moment to reflect on what independence means to our country.

For Naqsh, this day also holds a special connection to the work we do. Our project was created out of a desire to bring more attention to Uzbek culture and the traditions that have shaped it. We believe that understanding our heritage is one way of keeping it present in the lives of younger generations.

Today, we celebrate Uzbekistan with pride and gratitude.

Happy 35th Independence Day! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Ώ

A look back at Day 2 of Naqsh through the words of the people who joined us. ✨

Our participants shared their impressions, from exploring the history behind carpets and their motifs to creating their own interpretations on canvas.

Naqsh became a space to meet new people and experience Uzbek cultural heritage in a more personal way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and became part of our community. More to come!

Forwarded from Freshman Academy

🧡Naqsh Project's first event in Freshman was all about the history and science behind rugs.

A big thank you to Sogdiana, our speaker for the day!

We started with the story of the Pazyryk Carpet, one of the oldest surviving carpets in the world, and talked about what it reveals about the people who wove it.

From there, we explored how different regions across Uzbekistan and Central Asia developed their own distinct patterns and techniques, shaped largely by trade and cultural exchange across the region.

We also dug into why rugs became such a central part of life here in the first place: the nomadic lifestyle. It was used for warmth, for transportation, and for everyday function, long before it became decoration.

During the event, participants designed their own rug-inspired pieces, mixing motifs and patterns they connected with into something personal enough to frame and keep.

🧢Naqsh is about cultural awareness, noticing the history behind items we usually just walk past and building a community of people who love art, culture, and science.

Naqsh DAY 2 πŸ‡¦πŸ‡²

On August 24, we continued Naqsh with our second event at the Freshman Office.
We went back to Uzbek carpets, exploring their patterns and the stories behind them before moving into the creative workshop. Participants had plenty of questions during the presentation and then got to experiment with the motifs themselves.

The workshop was the heart of the afternoon β€” everyone approached their piece differently, turning traditional patterns into something personal 😏

It was a relaxed few hours of learning, creating, and simply enjoying the process.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Day 2!
There’s more ahead.
