The annual Ganeshotsav journey home is about to get easier for thousands of Mumbai residents. Special state transport buses will leave on the night of September 12 for Mahad, Mangaon and Poladpur in Konkan, two days before Ganesh Chaturthi, helping passengers avoid some of the pressure on crowded trains and regular buses. The extra services were requested by Maharashtra minister Bharat Gogawale, with Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik directing officials to arrange them. During one of the busiest travel periods of the year, simply getting a seat can feel like the first celebration.
