Free yoga is finding an enthusiastic audience in Mumbai, especially in neighbourhoods where space to exercise is hard to come by. Three new BMC-run Shiv Yoga centres are opening this month in Prabhadevi, Mahalaxmi and Worli Koliwada, joining four already operating in the G-South ward. The programme, launched in 2022, now has 111 centres across the city and has benefited more than 48,000 people, with particularly strong participation in densely populated areas and among women. In a city where personal space can feel like a luxury, sometimes a yoga mat is all the room you need.
