From flooded station passages to a dangerous waterfall, activists near Mumbai say several everyday problems need practical fixes rather than temporary restrictions. Groups in Panvel and Kharghar have asked authorities to waive disputed property tax penalties, develop Pandavkada waterfall into a safe eco-tourism site with viewing areas, ban an invasive aquatic plant that can damage lakes, and tackle monsoon waterlogging at Mansarovar and Khandeshwar stations. They also want better pedestrian access, including elevated routes, escalators or footbridges for commuters when underground passages flood. The message is fairly simple: preventing a problem is usually cheaper than cleaning it up later.
