Railway stations are getting birthdays - and five historic stops around Mumbai are joining the party. Kalyan, Karjat, Khandala, Khopoli and Bandra will celebrate their establishment anniversaries between October and November as part of the Railway Board’s “Station Mahotsav,” which covers 103 heritage stations across India. Some of these stations have served passengers for more than 150 years, helping connect Mumbai with the Deccan, the Western Ghats and its growing suburbs. Millions rush through stations every day; this time, the platforms themselves get a moment in the spotlight.
