Let’s start another working week with coffee, or, better yet, with “the most beautiful and valuable coffee machine in the world”, D.P. 47 also known as “La Cornuta” (The Horned One) because of the shape of its dispensers. La Cornuta was designed for La Pavoni, the world’s first manufacturer of mass-produced espresso machines, and was the first machine with a horizontal boiler.

This revolutionary model was produced in 1948 to the designs of Gio Ponti, Alberto Rosselli, and Antonio Fornaroli. Its chrome-plated and streamlined body reminiscent of exhaust manifolds of an internal combustion engine may have been inspired by what was then the epitome of industrial progress, the automobile.
